What Makes Willowdale Great?

One of Toronto’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan urban neighbourhoods, Willowdale can be seen as the core of North York, with many high-rise residential condominium towers, and commercial spaces with youthful energy and downtown feel. Within the Willowdale neighbourhood, you’ll find everything, from sushi restaurants, Korean fried chicken, bubble tea shops, pizza joints, to a condominium/shopping mall that includes an IMAX Cineplex cinema screen. Willowdale is also home to the highest percentage of ethnic Iranians, ethnic Koreans and Chinese.

Willowdale is also the home of the Earl Haig Secondary School which is highly regarded for its Claude Watson Arts program for dance, drama, music or visual arts. York University is also just a 25 min bus ride away from Finch metro station, with makes it a popular neighbourhood for many students.

Despite all the great neighbourhood stores and shopping the Willowdale offers, the area is largely residential, and the Willowdale real estate is full single-family homes, multi-story homes, condominium townhouses and high-rise development (luxury condos and shining office towers) along Yonge Street.

The convenience and selection of all the nearby bars, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theatre, shopping mall along Yonge street means that you won’t be disappointed living here. If you’re a movie buff, you’ll want to check out Cineplex Cinemas Empress Walk multiplex, which plays the latest popular movies.

Don’t have a car, or just don’t want one? Luckily you don’t need one in Willowdale. The neighbourhood is highly accessible by subway. There are four subway stations: Bayview, Finch, North York Centre, and Sheppard–Yonge station. The metro line provides easy access to the downtown core as well.

Future Outlook

With so many great places nearby to shop, eat and relax, Willowdale is truly an area that offers convenience for everyone is one of the best places to live in Toronto. This is why even more new condo projects north of Finch street, are being planned, adding more density along Yonge street.
